Family Law Act 1975 Appeals

26/11/2024

The Western Region Appeal Registry located at the Family Court of WA advises that as of Monday 9 December 2024, the filing of Family Law Act 1975 (Cth) appeal documents will be moving to the Commonwealth Courts Portal (CCP).

Accordingly, from that day, those appeal documents will no longer be accepted for filing by email to the Western Region Appeal Registry.

All appeals to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia Div 1 (FCFCoA) will thereafter be commenced in the National Appeal Registry, assessed and transferred to the relevant regional appeal registry.

In the case of appeals from a Family Law Magistrate or a Judge of the Family Court of Western Australia, it will be to the Western Region Appeal Registry.

Accordingly, all parties who wish to lodge an appeal in the FCFCoA will need to have registered on the CCP to file a Notice of Appeal.
