The Chief Judge of the Family Court has issued a new Practice Direction

Practice Direction (No. 2 of 2024) applies from 19 August 2024 and revokes Case Management Guideline 17.8.
A new Information Note has been issued by the Principal Registrar
Commencing on 19 August 2024, Registrars will make procedural orders in Chambers on all Form 1 Applications seeking financial orders only upon filing, to assist in progressing the matter in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Court Fees Increase on 1 July 2024

COVID-19 - Request to Attend Electronically

Changes to the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth) to commence 6 May 2024

At this time, the changes only apply to cases concerning children whose parents were, or are, married, and will apply to all new and existing matters from 6 May 2024, except where a final hearing/trial has already commenced.
