Guidelines for Independent Children's Lawyers

The Guidelines for Independent Children's Lawyers are intended to help Independent Children's Lawyers (ICLs) to carry out their role.

The Guidelines are also intended to provide practitioners, parties, children and others with information on the role of an Independent Children’s Lawyer.

The Guidelines document is a public document which is endorsed by the Chief Justice of the Family Court of Australia, the Chief Judge of the Family Court of Western Australia and the Chief Judge of the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. The Guidelines are made available by the legal aid commissions of the Australian states and territories which fund the work of the ICLs.  In addition, the Guidelines will be a resource for training ICLs.
