In Western Australia, the legislation relating to the operation of the State court is the Family Court Act 1997 (WA). The court also has jurisdiction under the Family Law Act 1975 (Cwlth). The Family Court of Western Australia exercises dual jurisdiction covering married people, de facto relationships and children's issues.
In all other states, the national Family Court of Australia operates under the Family Law Act 1975.
